We invest time, energy and intentional design into BHN’s governance – from the Board of Directors, through to our organisation and into the community.
Sound governance is crucial to our work as it enables ethical, transparent and accountable decision-making. It ensures that authority is exercised responsibly, resources are used wisely, and decisions are made in the best interests of the communities that we serve.
Strong governance builds trust – within the organisation, with our regulators, and with the people we serve - by promoting integrity, clarity of roles, and a culture of accountability.
In practice, governance at BHN means doing the right thing, in the right way, for the right reasons.
This year, BHN’s governance has been strengthened through:
- A full redesign of the Board of Directors’ Committee structure to provide more effective oversight of key areas of our work.
- Establishment of the Quality, Safety and Risk Management Committee, ensuring centralised leadership oversight across the organisation.
- Formation of two new consumer-focused groups – the Client and Community Engagement Working Group and the Board Community Advisory Group – to strengthen the voice of clients and community in our governance.
Below is a high-level visual overview of our improved governance committee structure.
