BHN is Accredited
Accreditation builds trust with our communities, providing assurance of the high-quality and professional services that BHN delivers.
BHN successfully underwent accreditation against several sets of standards in 2024/25.
Feedback from accreditations allows us to create Action Plans and commence ongoing Quality Improvement projects to address all areas identified for improvement.
We welcome the opportunities it provides, working with our communities to continuously enhance our services.
National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards
These standards cover key elements of our clinical practice, as well as making sure our systems are processes for governance and management are robust. We are currently accredited against these standards but will be transferring to the National Safety and Quality Primary and Community Healthcare Standards in 2026.
National Standard for Mental Health Services (NSMHS)
These standards focus on the protection of the rights and dignity of persons living with mental illness. These standards apply to all BHN services relating to Mental Health, Gamblers Help, Harm Reduction and Alcohol and Other Drugs and Carers Support. We completed successful mid-cycle accreditation against these standards in May 2025.
Rainbow Tick Accreditation
BHN achieved an important milestone when we became accredited against Rainbow Tick Standards in September 2024. These standards apply to our whole organisation and all our services. BHN is committed to providing a safe, affirming and inclusive environment for our LGBTIQA+ clients and workforce and can proudly demonstrate this commitment with the use of the Rainbow Tick Logo.
National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Practice Standards
These standards ensure that we are delivering a high quality service to people with disability. These standards apply to our Disability Day Services (Adult Community Options) and our Support Coordination Team.
We successfully completed mid-cycle accreditation in January 2025.
Aged Care Quality Standards
These standards cover our Home Care Packages program and other services for people 65 and over. BHN has not yet been accredited under these standards, this will likely occur in FY 2025/26 as part of the Aged Care Reforms.
Human Service Standards
These standards relate to services we provide in Child Protection, Family Services, Housing Assistance and Family Violence. These standards are changing to Social Service Standards, with timing to be confirmed.
Child Safe Standard
BHN is a Child Safe organisation and adheres to all obligations under these standards. We are committed to keeping children safe from harm, neglect and abuse.
