This year, we proudly announced the winners of our inaugural BHN Achievement Awards: Charlie Nash, Stacey Jones, Suzy Green, and Lauren Groves. At Better Health Network, our Reward and Recognition Program is dedicated to celebrating the incredible efforts and contributions of our staff.
The BHN Achievement Award is a key part of our phased approach to recognising staff excellence, aligning with our organisational values of Accountability, Collaboration, Respect, and Courage. This new initiative highlights those who deliver outstanding outcomes in their roles.
A huge congratulations to these four remarkable individuals, who have become the first to be recognised by their peers and selected as winners of this prestigious award.
Charlie Nash works as a Non-Residential Withdrawal Nurse and was nominated for his outstanding work and client-centred approach while delivering respectful, compassionate, and professional nursing to vulnerable clients seeking to withdraw from alcohol and other drugs safely at home. Charlie has a keen interest in supporting the mental health needs of his clients and has been a passionate advocate for clients with co-occurring conditions and needs. With more than 20 years of experience in the AOD nursing field, Charlie is always generous to the AOD team through his support and knowledge sharing. Charlie’s level of care not only shows leadership to his team members but has been well received by the numerous clients who have given positive verbal and written feedback on their experience after being discharged from care.
Stacey Jones works as the Quality, Risk and Service Improvement Lead and was nominated to acknowledge her work and leadership in the Adult Community Options (ACO) team and her outstanding tenure of 21 years at CBCHS and now BHN. Stacey’s work was instrumental in reducing restrictive practices at ACO sites, thus protecting, and enhancing the human rights and dignity of our clients who access our disability services. This work was pivotal in BHN receiving a high result in the restrictive practices section of last year’s NDIS Accreditation, which according to the lead NDIS auditor, is a rare high score and shows BHN is working ahead of the industry average in this space.
Suzy Green (Project Coordinator - Office of Transformation) and Lauren Groves (Policy Project Officer - Office of Transformation) received the award for their joint success and collaboration in integrating the full suite of Client Services policy documents across BHN.
This is no small feat! In their work, Suzy and Lauren ensured creative solutions for a complex project. They worked collaboratively with Directors, Executive Directors, and Program Managers across three divisions of BHN, ensuring they were always prepared, providing clear guidance on how to navigate the project, and backing up their recommendations with clear evidence.
A big success of their work together is shown by their willingness to present complex information in accessible and engaging ways through their Policy People video updates and instructions.
